Awesome Beachbody Coach
I am a 30 year old, super energetic (most of the time) wife, mom, step-mom, and business co-owner. I am passionate about helping people change their lives!  I am passionate about teaching my kids how to be healthy!  I am passionate about living the life God has called me to!  I am passionate about supporting people who need a little encouragement or accountability!  AND I am passionate about ending the trend of obesity!

So...I became a fitness and nutrition coach and a Beachbody coach!

unique wedding in vegas
beachbody coachMy husband, Nate, and I recently got married at Jean Dry Lake Bed, about 40 minutes outside of Las Vegas!  It was incredibly awesome!  We are both full-time fitness and nutrition coaches and run this business together.  I am also a stay at home mom and absolutely love that, most days!  I am very grateful to my dear hubby for making it possible for me to have that time with the little ones!  We are newly venturing into the world of a blended family, so I am sure you will see a few blogs that go along with the excitement and struggles that follow step-parenthood.  Together we have 4 boys, ranging from 2 to 10, so it is a busy place around here and we try to remember to cherish every minute of it.

My Fitness Journey

insanity resultsA funny thing happened to me around the age of 23.  My weight started creeping up and I actually had to work at it to keep it down!  I had always been conscious of the amount of fat in certain foods and my parents had taught me to eat whole wheat bread and not to eat junk food, but I had never really learned to eat vegetables or how to cook clean, healthy foods.  It was way more about how certain foods would affect the scale for me than about having a healthy body.

At the age of 23 I stepped foot in a gym for the first time in my life!  I had put on 20 pounds after I was no longer hiking across the campus of East Carolina University 5 times a day.  I lost it fairly quickly by working out daily and not eating a whole lot of anything.  My weight after that, with the exception of pregnancies, always stayed within a 15 pound range.  I worked out when I could, but with kids now in the picture, it was so difficult to get to the gym and expensive for the childcare packages!  In addition to that I was surrounded by people who really didn’t care about being healthy at all.  A habit of eating formed, which included box dinners, occasional fast food, eating nothing at all or maybe just a bowl of cereal for dinner.  I would cook vegetables from time to time but I was the only one eating them so it was really hard to stay consistent.

My motivation and focus changed to being healthy when at only 28 years old I went to the doctor for a routine check up and mentioned to her that I was tired a lot and it was really not like me.  I am naturally a super enthusiastic and energetic person but I was just worn out feeling.  Obviously, I thought it made sense for me to be tired, chasing kids around all day a lot of days and running my insurance business kept me very busy to say the least.  My doctor is great at asking questions and listening and she thought it would be a good idea to do full blood work.  Turned out my iron was low, my iron saturation was low (anemia), my magnesium was low (also contributing to the loss of energy), my cholesterol was not crazy high but it was over the normal range, which she did not like considering my age and size!  I was shocked!  I thought I ate pretty well and I was only 5'4", 133 pounds and 28 years old, how could MY cholesterol be high?!  She suggested I change my diet. Well, that was all it took!

I realized at that point the importance of being healthy and not just being thin.  I began trying a lot more vegetables and experimenting with cooking new recipes and learning how to make old recipes healthier.  Nate was very supportive and excited about it all.  We began having fun with cooking and EATING.  It was delicious, healthy, real food! Next thing I knew, I was in love with vegetables! We started drinking Shakeology for lunch every day and started working out together 6 days a week at home.  It was awesome not to have to figure out what was for lunch every day and it was great to be able to work out again consistently and without having to leave the kids or drive 50 minutes to get to and from the gym!  It was and still is great time for he and I to spend together too!  It has really strengthened our relationship too, being able to share in this lifestyle change together!

awesome absAfter only 6 months of using Shakeology, I went back to the doctor.  My iron and iron saturation is perfect! My Magnesium is perfect! And best of all, my cholesterol is PERFECT! My total cholesterol dropped from 217 to 139! See the proof!  My doctor’s comment on my records is:

“You have reduced your LDL by 50%, which is amazing.  Your lipid panel is excellent.  I am pleased to give you such a good report.”

I immediately called Nate! I was so excited, feeling like a kid who got all “A”s on their report card!  So, yeah I am sold!  I lost an inch and a half 2 1/2 inches! in my waist, 6 pounds 8 pounds!, 6% body fat 8.5% body fat! and became dramatically healthier! (As of April 2012)

Yeah, I had the discipline and did the hard work to make it happen, but I am so grateful to BeachBody for developing Shakeology and such incredible workout programs!  That is the kind of company I want to work with.  Two things I am passionate about are being healthy and helping others! With that being said, I would be happy to be your BeachBody Coach and help you achieve the results you never thought possible!
